The social sciences are the place for you if you want to make a difference in the world.
In the Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and Reconciliation Studies at Bethel, we explore social and cultural life to understand tough issues facing communities.
Through majors and minors in the social sciences, our students build skills so they can meet today’s challenges—conflict, rapid urbanization, huge gaps between classes—and respond through an informed Christian faith.
One of our majors, reconciliation studies, is unique to Bethel with its focus on diversity, conflict mediation, social justice, and reconciliation theology. And many of our students earn a second major or minor in another field.
We’re committed to engaging students in cross-cultural experiences in real communities through off-campus programs. Students also gain a diverse perspective right in the classroom from a faculty that is 50% persons of color, including professors from China and Nigeria.
And once our graduates leave Bethel, they’re prepared for a range of careers, serving in fields like public service, nonprofit work, ministry, and education.
