Bethel's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is home for students in four different degree programs: B.A. in Mathematics, B.A. in Mathematics with Secondary Licensure, B.S. in Computer Science, and B.A. in Computer Science.
We’ve designed programs that teach students to use mathematics as a daily tool and as a paradigm for thought. Built around a core of both traditional and innovative courses, the curriculum prepares our graduates for a variety of careers through a balance of theoretical and practical course work. Here are a few highlights of the program:
- Career preparation. Our interns and graduates have a reputation for being prepared and honest. In the wake of national corporate scandals, these qualities are more valued than ever. One employer noted that Bethel’s new graduates “are immediately at the level that graduates from other schools attain after two years of industry experience.”
- Leadership development. Our programs prepare leaders for ever-changing career fields, as computing technology and the use of mathematics continue to reinvent many areas of life.
- Research opportunities. Our professors are dedicated to teaching and helping students become committed Christ followers. Faculty know students by name and work one-on-one with students to conduct research, giving them a distinct advantage as they apply for graduate school or employment.
- Unique program offerings. Unlike some universities, Bethel’s B.A. in Mathematics with Secondary Licensure is a full math major with licensure added, preparing graduates more completely. This gives Bethel’s future math teachers more career options, including teaching advanced placement courses.
