The road to love in the small town of Gopher Prairie, Minn., looks a lot like all the other Minnesota roads in 1910—rocky with potholes! In this emotionally charged, wryly humorous dramatization of Sinclair Lewis’ groundbreaking novel, young and idealistic Carol Milford marries Doc Will Kennicott and moves from St. Paul to his hometown. As a would-be civic reformer, she struggles to find her place amidst the claustrophobic and parochial mindset of the town. Through marriage, birth, separation, and war, Carol gradually sees the painful consequences of her choices in life, and the redemptive possibilities of choosing love. Craig Wright’s touching adaptation brings this American classic vividly to life for a whole new generation of theatregoers.
