PLEASE TAKE NOTE: Patrons arriving late will not be seated until intermission. Due to the configuration of the Bethel Theatre, seating patrons during the show is very disruptive. In addition, we wish to respect the theatre experience of those patrons who have arrived on time. We understand that parking and weather can be issues. When these factors are a problem, we may hold the house a few extra minutes. However, once the doors are closed, they will remain closed until intermission. We respectfully ask you to make provisions for these conditions and plan to arrive no later than 7:25 p.m. for an evening performance and 2:25 p.m. on Sundays. Thank you for your cooperation. |
We invite you on a journey with us to understand the human condition, to probe our complex culture and the equally complex past. We want to understand both one another and ourselves better.
To do this, our productions represent a wide range of experiences: joy, pain, triumph, and shame. Productions ask our students to reflect on how to express biblical truth to an audience through the craft of theatre. At the same time, we want students’ deepened understanding of the art of theatre to flow out into their lives and relationships. It is in this spirit that we share the experience of theatre with you.
This experience of theatre is so powerful and occasionally upsetting, in part, because it engages us as whole persons. The theatre inherently raises challenging and unconventional questions about human life, even as we seek to strengthen our own and our audience’s minds and faith. Yet the theatre is also a place where we strive to engage your imagination and your heart, and, by doing so, to entertain you.
The study and discipline of the theatre arts are about the “good news” in profound ways. We help students renew their minds by encouraging them to see with artists’ eyes. Through this creative process of telling important stories, we hope to expand the way we and our audience understand and empathize with the human experience.
