Appalachia Mission Trip
Engage in an eye-opening experience to learn about poverty in the United States.
March 15-22, 2014
In McDowell County, West Virginia, students will serve those living in poverty within the United States. Due to limited jobs and the remote location, the Appalachian region experiences some of the greatest levels of poverty in the nation.
Our team will work alongside our mission partner and their local families by creating a Work Safari. Through the Work Safari students will repair homes, work on construction projects, run afterschool programs, and serve in other capacities appropriate to the season.
They’ll also receive teaching from local leaders on poverty, biblical compassion, prayer, leadership, economics, and the role of the church.
Our Ministry Partner
As our longest running ministry partner, Mustard Seeds & Mountains strives to be the hands and feet of Jesus in McDowell County, West Virginia. For decades they’ve served the region by helping individuals build skills, self-worth, and experience God’s love.
Who Should Participate
This trip is best suited for students who have some cross-cultural ministry experience, some exposure to poverty, but not advanced experience. This trip will take students to the next step in following God’s biblical call to engage in life-giving and dignifying relationships with people in poverty.
Pray, learn, ask questions, and consider completing the application.
