Belize - Orange Walk Mission Trip

An experience that is both impactful and transformational in Orange Walk Town, Belize. Join this team to be moved by God and impacted by the local Belizean community. 2 Corinthians 4:7 says, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” God chose us to be his vessels of love and grace to others near and far. Our job is to share it with others and make disciples of all nations.

Date

March 11-19, 2017

Location

Bethel students will travel to Central America to serve communities in villages of northern Belize, Orange Walk Town. Iglesia De Dios Evangelio Completo is the local church where the team will sleep at night. The team will visit local hospitals and Trial Farm Elementary School, Mayan Ruins, and Caye Caulker Island.

The Experience

"The trip not only opened my eyes to blessings and a heart of thankfulness, but also how God is faithful in another culture.” These are the words of the 2017 team leader for this trip. The local church began in a backyard in 1991 by Pastor Garcia and his family and has continued to impact community for the Lord. Our team will serve alongside of the church and schools to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and the hope that we have, loving others as Christ loved us first.

Our 2017 team is expecting to do VBS kids ministry, food distribution, home visits, prayer walks, sharing Scripture stories in local schools, daily worship, and fellowship. We celebrate the work of God, which is already active and alive through our local church partner and we look forward to the ways in which we will work alongside them in what God is doing through them!

Philippians 1:3-6, “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Our Ministry Partner

Praying Pelican Missions is a leader in short-term missions to Belize. The 2017 trip will be the fifth consecutive year serving in Orange Walk Town.

Trip Cost

This team of 20 students has a team fundraising goal of $40,000 (about $2,000 per person). Fundraising will be a major part of the year for this team, which will tremendously help the financial bottom line!

Who Should Participate

This trip is ideally suited for students with a desire for highly relational ministry. Spanish language is very helpful, but not required. Strong communication skills are needed as well as flexibility in expectations day-to-day. Students must be ready for physical and spiritual rigor and expect personal and spiritual transformation as they invest more of themselves in this endeavor.

Next Steps

Applications are open online from October 1 to November 1.  Interviews are conducted in October and November of every year for the following spring.
