We provide Bethel undergraduates with free peer tutoring services, academic counseling and workshops on study skills, test taking, and learning styles. Visit us our office or explore our website for details!

Formal Mission Statement:

The AESC promotes Bethel's mission to "create a supportive environment for the development of growing Christian persons" by providing a wide range of academic services which equip students to meet the rigorous academic challenges at Bethel College. We recognize students' individual differences and value the development of their God-given abilities. Therefore, the mission of the Academic Enrichment and Support Center is to develop, administer, and evaluate academic support and enrichment services intended to promote students' success. We encourage students to identify their strengths and weaknesses as learners, observe the connection between their study strategies and their results, and to develop and implement a plan for improvement. Services on study skills and time management, as well as course specific strategies and content are provided through a variety of methods. Students who work in our programs as tutors, workshop leaders, or in providing other services benefit from these experiences by developing leadership abilities, self confidence, and expertise in their discipline. Service delivery can include individual consultation, tutoring, workshops, course specific review sessions, the Math Lab, the Science Tutor Lab, or other programs deemed appropriate.

AESC Objectives and Assessment Plan:

The AESC faculty hope that students who participate in academic support services will:

  • receive help in mastering course content.
  • develop self-awareness as learners, increasing their ability to monitor their own strengths and weakness and to make adjustments as necessary.
  • experiment with and adopt effective learning strategies.
  • become independent learners.

The AESC office is located in HC 324.
