Anthropology & Sociology

Service and Career Development

Graduates develop creative and meaningful ways of integrating their education with their faith. Common areas for career development include criminal justice, education, missions, refugee resettlement, and cross-cultural human services. Graduates report that their education in anthropology and sociology prepares them to be friends, parents, spouses, neighbors, and church members who can understand and communicate across social and cultural differences.

Students are encouraged to spend time abroad, develop internships, and utilize Bethel's career services. They develop strong skills in writing, speaking, researching, problem-solving, and cross-cultural communication. They gain a global perspective, with special concern for inequality, urbanization, and missions. This broad framework and a strong skill set allows them to pursue meaningful service in the world or to pursue graduate studies in a wide range of fields at excellent universities.
