For the third year, the Department of Biological Sciences has funded student summer research. These awards are in honor of Dr. C. Weldon Jones, a longtime department member widely recognized for his excellence in teaching and collaborative research with students. The goals of the C. Weldon Jones Memorial Research Fund are to:

1. Support student research in the Department of Biological Sciences through the funding of research expenses and the provision of a student research stipend..

2. To encourage students to pursue independent research projects in collaboration with a faculty mentor, perhaps leading to a research focus beyond the undergraduate years.

3. Provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to work on significant research questions and help prepare them for graduate level training.

This summer, students Jennifer Hansen, Crista Johnson, and Jetter Robertson are the recipients of C. Weldon Jones awards. Congratulations to these students for their excellent proposals.
