Jim Reynhout specializes in developmental biology, electron microscopy, endocrinology, and cell physiology. He has done postdoctoral research at Purdue University and has served as a research scientist at the Michigan Cancer Foundation and most recently at the University of Minnesota. He has taught at Bethel since 1980. His current research is in collaboration with members of the University of Minnesota and focuses on mechanisms that regulate cell interaction in development. Other projects of interest include, mechanisms that regulate motility in the avian digestive system, cytoskeletal structures and their interactions, gap junctions and cell communication, and mechanisms of hormone action. Dr. Reynhout teaches BIO109D General Biology, BIO112D Introduction to Molecular and Celullar Biology, BIO375 Endocrinology, BIO390 Ultrastructure, BIO351 Developmental Biology, GES322 Cancer:Science and Society, and BIO352 Structure and Development of Vertebrates. In 1999 Dr. Reynhout received the Bethel Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence. |
