Dr. Hyatt joined the department in the fall of 2003. Brian received his B.S. from Bethel College and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Minnesota. His training and primary area of interest is developmental genetics. For his doctoral research he studied genetic interactions that are involved in the establishment of the left -right axis in the frog Xenopus laevis. While at the U of MN his teaching abilities were recognized when he was nominated for the Outstanding Performance Award for Teaching Assistants. His post-doctoral research was carried out at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati where he studied the genetic regulation of early lung development in mice. He currently combines his two areas of expertise to study lung development in Xenopus laevis tadpoles. Among the courses that Dr. Hyatt teaches are BIO112D Introduction to Molecular and Cellular Biology, BIO312 Genetics, BIO351 Developmental Biology and GES314K Biotechnology. |
