Bethel Forensics Team Coaching Staff

Bethel's coaches for the 2009-2010 year are:

Dr. Michael Dreher

Dr. Michael Dreher is the Director of Forensics. He is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication Studies, and has been at Bethel since 1997. Dr. Dreher competed for North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, where he received his B.A. in Speech Communication/Theater and Mathematics. His M.A. is from the University of Iowa, and his Ph.D. is from Louisiana State University. He serves as webmaster of several forensics websites. He is also the tournament director for Novice Nationals and has previously served as the tournament director for the National Christian College Forensics Invitational. He has also been elected to the Executive Committee for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Forensics Association.

Dr. Dreher received outstanding coaching awards at the Creighton/Concordia swing (October 2002), the National Christian College Forensics Invitational (March 2003), and the Minnesota State University-Mankato tournament (October 2004).

Jessica Samens Jessica Samens is the Assistant Director of Forensics, and an instructor of Communication Studies. Jessica has taught at Minnesota State University-Mankato, where she received her M.A. Jessica has served as a graduate assistant for the MSU-Mankato forensics team. Jessica's B.A. is in Communication and Special Education from Winona State University, where she served as a student coach and leader of the forensics team.
Lacy Larson Lacy Larson is an assistant coach for the team. Lacy graduated from Bethel University with a degree in English and Secondary Education. Lacy was also a 4-year competitor for the team, and was a two-time qualifier for the AFA-NIET in After Dinner Speaking. Lacy is currently working on her master's degree in Human Resources from Capella University.
Alayna Larsen Alayna Larsen is an assistant coach for the team. Alayna is a graduate of Bethel University with a degree in Psychology. Alayna was a 4-year competitor for the team, and won a state championship in Duo Interpretation. Alayna currently works in the mental health field.

Bethel is also blessed to have a variety of judges help us at various tournaments, including Tammy Schexnaider, Anne Carroll, Bethany Piety-Browne, Terilyn Johnston Huntington, David Maus, and Faith Kroeker Maus. The Bethel team appreciates their support and help!
