2005-2006 Topic Papers and Resolutions

Winning Resolution: RESOLVED: THAT THE UNITED STATES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD ADOPT A POLICY TO INCREASE THE PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING NATIONS: TIBET, BHUTAN, AFGHANISTAN, NEPAL, MYANMAR, THAILAND, EAST TIMOR, INDONESIA, PHILIPPINES, AND/OR PAKISTAN.

These were the final five resolutions:

  • Resolved: That the United States should significantly increase economic aid to one or more of the following Southeast Asian countries: Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, East Timor, Brunei, Singapore, and/or Myanmar/Burma.
  • Resolved: That the United States Federal Government should substantially increase assistance to one or more of the following countries: Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, East Timor, Brunei, Singapore, Myanmar/Burma, North Korea, and/or Asian countries of the former Soviet block.
  • Resolved: That the United States should establish a foreign policy significantly increasing assistance to one or more of the following nations: Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and/or Myanmar/Burma
  • Resolved: That the United States Federal government should substantially change its foreign policy toward one or more of the following South Asian nations: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and/or the Maldives.
  • Resolved, that the United States Federal government should adopt a policy to increase the protection of human rights in one or more of the following nations: Tibet, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, East Timor, Indonesia, Philippines, and/or Pakistan.
