Undergraduate Home
Bethel's undergraduate communication program continues to grow at an
incredible rate. From 1997 to the present, we've grown from almost 100
to nearly 200 majors and 30 minors in the department. Why?
- No matter where you're working -- or what you're doing -- communication is vital to succeeding in today's world.
- When
members of the department talk to employers, the #1 skill employers
tell us they want is a person who is able to communicate with others,
whether it's through writing, speaking, working in teams, or leading
teams.
- The Department of Communication Studies is a
challenging but welcoming place. Ours is not the easiest major at
Bethel, but our major is a place you can certainly call home.
We have three majors. Two are housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, while the third is in our College of Adult and Professional Studies, and is designed primarily for adults returning to college.

- Communication: This track is designed to give a survey of
the field of communication. Students take courses in communication
theory, public speaking, group communication, media communication, and
more.
- Media Communication: This track is designed to give
people not only a broad, liberal arts perspective to the field of
media, but it also gives students the necessary art, production and
writing background to succeed in today's mass media world.
