Environmental Studies Program

The Environmental Studies Major is an interdisciplinary major designed to provide an opportunity for students who want to work towards solutions to the earth's environmental problems. The major provides a background in each of the major components that are involved in most environmental issues; chemistry, biology, ecology, statistics, politics, economics, and business. Students specialize in a specific area of emphasis, ranging from environmental biology or chemistry, environmental writing, to environmental economics or business. The courses in the area of emphasis are carefully chosen by the student, an environmental studies advisor, and a member of the faculty from the area of emphasis. The major concludes with a multidisciplinary seminar where current environmental issues are analyzed, with an environmental research project, and with an internship.
More information about the ENS Program and Major can be found in the ENS Section of the College Catalog
A small managed prairie, several small forests parcels, several small wetlands, and Lake Valentine all provide students with an opportunity to participate in ecosystem studies and management.
