Bethel University Honors Program

Honors Program H-Tag Contract

Honors Program students are required to complete two H-tags: one at the 200-level or above and one at the 300-level or above. Typically, the following are true of H-tags:

  • Student and faculty have increased out-of-class contact during the semester. This contact ranges from weekly meetings to meeting a total of three or four times.
  • H-tag work is usually an enhanced version of what is already expected of students in the class--often a longer paper or a paper coupled with an oral presentation to the rest of the class, at times an additional short paper or additional research conducted. Other H-tags have included service-learning, lab projects, & leading class discussions.
  • On average, students work about 10-15 additional hours per semester in the course of completing their H-tag requirements.

Submit this form no later than four weeks into the term in which the H-tagged course will be taken. Instructor and student are to mutually agree on the description of student work and evaluation plan. The instructor and student need to sign this form before submitting it to the Honors Program Director. At the end of the semester, the faculty member will indicate satisfactory completion of the H-tag to the Registrar (on the grade roster for the course).
