The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Athletic Training combines formal instruction with clinical experience as required by CAATE and the NATA for accredited athletic training education programs. It also includes courses which provide background information which complements the core requirements. Students are required to fulfill the General Education Curriculum requirements and choose electives to total 122 credits for graduation. Athletic Training Majors (ATMs) are encouraged to consider a second major in a teaching certification program or obtain the prerequisites for application to a graduate professional program, such as physical therapy, physician's assistant, exercise physiology, etc.

Up to 8 credits may be counted as General Education requirements Students wishing to complete the course of study in athletic training apply to the Athletic Training Education Program in the fall of their sophomore year. Enrollment is limited due to constraints of clinical settings and number of clinical instructors. Students may not graduate with the Athletic Training major without completing all clinical requirements for the Athletic Training Education Program. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5, 2.75 GPA in major courses, and receive a grade no lower than C in any major course. Disciplinary action, which may include removal from the ATEP, will be taken for those falling below these standards.
