Athletic Training Education Program

Introduction

Through a combination of formal classroom instruction and clinical experience, the graduate of the Bethel University Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) is prepared to apply a wide variety of specific health care skills and knowledge as an integral part of the sports health care team. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on empathetic care, exercising critical judgment, interpersonal and group communication, and working in cooperation with physicians, nurses, and other allied health care professionals, as well as coaches, administrators, and parents. At the completion of this program the student will be able to:

1) identify specific ways to prevent athletic injuries

2) recognize and evaluate various athletic injuries

3) provide care for injured athletes

4) rehabilitate various athletic injuries

5) organize and administer an athletic training program

6) demonstrate professional responsibility
