Today, health education is more important than ever. Escalating medical costs are drastically affecting the economy, and individuals must accept greater responsibility for their own health. The major aims of school and community health education are to promote well being among individuals and help them make educated decisions in solving personal, family and community health problems.
Graduates with a BA Degree in Community Health are qualified for a variety of positions in an expanding health-related career marketplace. Professional opportunities include coordinating health education in volunteer agencies; administering community health programs in city, county or state departments of public health; and coordinating wellness programs in hospitals, corporations or health spas. Regardless of the setting, health professionals have an opportunity to improve the health status of people in the areas of weight control, nutrition, substance abuse, physical fitness, stress management, and safety consciousness. Students must earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0, 2.25 GPA in the major, and earn at least a C in all courses in the major.
