• Dr. Beecken has a 2006 Air Force Office of Scientific Research Fellowship

• Dr. Greenlee is Associate Director of NASA’s Minnesota Space Grant Consortium

• Dr. Hoyt is a new Professor in Physics at Bethel in Fall 2006

– First observations of laser cooling in solids, $10k prize from Optical Society of America

– NASA award for outstanding lab mentorship of undergraduates

– National Research Council Post-doctoral Fellowship at NIST

• Dr. Peterson is a national leader in the physics community

– Past-President of the American Association of Physics Teachers, Fellow of American Physical Society

– Selected first-ever Bethel University Professor

– American Institute of Physics: Director on Governing Board, serves on Publishing Policy Committee

– National Science Foundation: Reviews proposals for Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics

• Dr. Stein is a widely recognized Aerospace Engineer

– Serves as Adjunct Professor at Rice University

– Collaborates with the U. S. Army on High Performance Computing/Modeling

– Published/presented more than 3 dozen papers in the last four years (Japan, China, Europe, and U.S.)

– 2006 winner of the Bethel University Excellence in Scholarship Award

• Bethel Physics Dept received the Heuer Award for Outstanding Achievement in Undergraduate Science Education from the Council of Independent Colleges

• Chosen by The National Task Force for Undergraduate Physics as 1 of the 21 “Thriving” Physics Departments in the U.S. (out of 780): "Why Many Undergraduate Physics Programs Are Good but Few are Great," Physics Today, Sept. 2003, pp. 38-43.
