Mental Health Advocate - posted 8/7/08

Job Description: Member Advocates are responsible for 1) providing telephonic service and process explanation; 2) benefit and eligibility interpretation; 3) screening and referral functions; and 4) follow-up and service satisfaction. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Registers participants in the advocacy system and opens case files
  • Screens participants and provider requests for services
  • Educate participants with respect to parameters of services and benefits design including claim process
  • Assists and supports care managers in the handling of crisis calls
  • Provides follow-up calls to participants to assess level of service satisfaction
  • Completes service tracking and initiates the Concern, Compliant, Grievance (CCG) process
  • Participates in clinical/intake staff meeting and in-service seminars

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree is required, preferably in mental health/social sciences field
  • Experience in mental health, social or human services setting
  • Must demonstrate warmth and empathy with client
  • Strong conflict-resolution skills – must be able to work positively with irate callers or those who are in a crisis
  • Flexible and creative problem-solver – every call is different so candidate must be able to be comfortable “thinking on their feet”
  • Must be comfortable working in fast-paced, deadline-driven business environment
  • Strong receptiveness to feedback from supervisor and mentor
  • Team work oriented coupled with good judgment in making decisions

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Mental Health Practitioner - ongoing opportunities

Christian based, in-home, Mental Health agency seeks qualified, Christian individuals to provide home-based, therapy and skills to children and families with multi-systemic problems.  Travel in multiple counties.  Flexible hours, applicant should be available to work afternoons and early evenings at least three days a week.  Job openings are for full-time positions.  Benefits provided.

Qualified applicant will be flexible, organized, thorough, comfortable working in changing locations, is an open communicator, able to think on their feet, and capable of working independently as well as on a team and with a supervisor.  Preferred applicant education MA in MFT, SW, or Psych.  Also acceptable Masters Level, second year student, in above programs, with experience in the field or BA + 5 years human service experience.  Knowledge of child/family systems required.

Family Visit Monitor, Children's Safety Centers - VOLUNTEER

Responsibilities:

  • Observe parent-child interactions during supervised visitations
  • Record written notes during supervised visits
  • Ensure that no physical harm is directed to child and/or to the other program participants
  • Monitor conversation between visiting parent and child to guard against inappropriate remarks made toward child, other parent, etc.
  • On some occasions, facilitate visit by suggesting age-appropriate games or activities
  • Redirect inappropriate behavior, both physical and verbal, in a manner consistent with program rules
  • Maintain a safe environment for children, parents, staff and volunteers
