NEW INTERNSHIP AVAILABLE- Posted 10/8/08

The Safety Center Inc. in Bloomington MN, has two immediate openings for practicum students.

The opportunities are for students who are in their second year of a program and have a thorough understanding of therapy basics.

Interns immediately begin working into the role of co-therapist by shadowing and observing an experienced therapist. Case note writing and an increasingly active role in group are followed by psychoeducation presentations and eventually by leading group sessions.

Day treatment is daily for two and a half hours. Each group member also has one family therapy session and one individual session per week. Interns are encouraged to participate as fully as their schedules allow.

Training consists of 1-1 ½ hour of weekly case consultation with the clinical staff, one hour of weekly clinical supervision with a licensed psychologist, and daily interaction with the primary group therapist. Interns also participate in bimonthly three-hour curriculum/program development sessions.

Commitment

The internship requires a 20 hour per week/9 month commitment. Under special or unique circumstances, the required commitment for the internship can be negotiated. A small stipend may also be available dependant upon qualifications.
