- American Psychological
Association Division 26 (founded in 1966) which has become the Society
for the History of Psychology (in 1998).
- CHEIRON: International
Society for the History of Behavioral and Social Sciences
Cheiron was formed in October 1968 to promote international cooperation
and multidisciplinary studies in the history of the social and behavioral
sciences. (Cheiron is a centaur --half horse, half man-- in Greek mythology.
He was the son of Chronos, gentle and well learned, and reputed teacher
of a number of Greek heroes like Ulysses)
- The
Williams James Society: The purpose of the William James Society is
to encourage study of, and communication about, the life and work of
William James (1842-1910) and his ongoing influence in the many fields
to which he contributed.
- European Society for
the History of the Human Sciences
The successor organization to Cheiron-Europe, which was founded in 1982,
and aims to provide a forum for international and cross-disciplinary
study of the history of the human sciences.
- Forum for History of Human Science
: a group associated with the History
of Science Society. It was established to promote research, education,
and scholarship in the history of human science, and to provide
a forum for discussion.
- American Psychological Association,
Division 24 (Theoretical & Philosophical Psychology) This division
is a very eclectic division, with members from many specialty areas
of interest. The common interest among this diverse group is the philosophy
of psychology and the social sciences, as well as the social foundations
of psychology.
- British
Psychological Society, History and Philosophy of Psychology Section: for those interested in the history of psychology, or in the philosophical aspects of psychology.
- Canadian Psychological
Association History & Philosophy of Psychology Section: A division of the Canadian Psychological Association.
- Canadian Society for
History and Philosophy of Science: a Canadian forum bringing together
historians, philosophers, sociologists, and a wide range of interdisciplinary
scholars.
- International Society for the History
of the Neurosciences (ISHN): (founded in 1995)
