This presentation was originally presented orally at Bethel College (now Bethel University) on October 28, 1999. I have placed this material on the web at the request of several colleagues who were unable to attend the original presentation.

I have chosen to leave it in its original form rather than convert to a prose essay. There are two reasons:

1. In this form, it preserves more of the spirit and feel of the original presentation.

2. It would take more time than I wish to spend at present to do the conversion.
