Apply for Aid
Applying for aid is a process you’ll go through each year you’re here.
We give priority consideration to new students who apply by April 15. Later applicants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The priority deadline for returning students is May 10.
Still looking at your college options? Check out a few things you should do before you apply for aid.
-
Fill out the Bethel Financial Aid Application.
Complete your application:
You may also download the paper version and mail it to our office, however, paper applications require an additional 2 weeks to process.
-
Fill out your FAFSA.
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is used to determine eligibility for need-based federal, state, and Bethel grants. It's also required of students and parents interested in government education loans. Here’s what you should do:
First, complete your income tax return.
Although it's not required, we recommend that you and your parents complete your federal income tax returns before submitting your FAFSA. Otherwise you’ll need to update your FAFSA after your taxes are complete, prompting a review, and possible revision, of your award before any aid is paid to your student account.
Then, fill out and submit your FAFSA.
We recommend that you use the IRS Data Retrieval process when completing your FAFSA to minimize the chance that your application is selected for verification. The IRS Data Retrieval process is available approximately 2 weeks after you electronically submit your federal income tax return (6-8 weeks after mailing a paper federal tax return). Be sure to include Bethel University (code #002338) on the list of schools to receive your FAFSA information.
-
Apply for additional aid.
Some scholarships and grants aren’t awarded through the Bethel Financial Aid Application or FAFSA. Check your eligibility and apply for additional gift aid.
-
Review your financial aid award.
We start mailing out financial aid awards in March for the coming fall. You should receive your award within 2-3 weeks of submitting all required application materials. You can also view your financial aid award online.
