Grants are a form of gift aid, meaning you don’t need to repay them.

Most grants are based on your level of financial need determined by the results of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The state of Minnesota offers state grants just for its residents to help ease tuition costs.

The federal government has set up grant programs to help students afford college. Most federal grants go to students with the highest financial need. Some are also tailored to specific academic programs.
