Federal Grants
The federal government offers gift aid through a number of grants. Most federal grants are designed to help students with the highest level of need.
Federal Pell Grant
Amount: Up to $5,550 per year (in 2012-2013).
Renewal: Eligibility is calculated each year based on results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Eligibility: Awarded to students with the highest need.
Academic requirements: Must be a student in good standing.
How to apply: Automatically considered with your FAFSA and Bethel Financial Aid Application.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Amount: $100-$4,000
Renewal: Renewable each year assuming that FAFSA results are similar.
Eligibility: Must be eligible for a Pell Grant.
Academic requirements: Must be a student in good standing.

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant
Amount: Up to $4,000 per year
Renewal: Students must apply every year.
Eligibility: Students who plan on being teachers. Recipients must work as full-time teachers in a high-need field serving low-income students for a minimum of 4 years within 8 years of graduation. This grant reverts to a Direct Unsubsidized Loan (with interest accrued from the date of each grant disbursement), for students who don’t carry out the teaching requirements.
