State Grants

Take a look at grant opportunities just for Minnesota residents.

Minnesota State Grant

Amount: $100-$9,620 in 2012-2013. Awards are subject to change if the government decides to alter the state grant formula.

Renewal: Each year a student’s eligibility for MN State Grant is calculated based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). After attempting 4 years of full-time postsecondary education, students are no longer eligible.

Eligibility: Minnesota residents who demonstrate sufficient need. For complete eligibility requirements see the Office of Higher Education.

Academic requirements: Must be a student in good standing. Must take 15 credits per term to receive the full-time grant amount. Lighter credit loads will reduce the award. Credits taken during January interim may be added to either fall or spring semester, or split between semesters in order to help a student obtain the full-time grant amount. For more information on how January interim credits are assigned, see page 14 of the current year Financial Aid Handbook.

How to apply: Automatically considered with your FAFSA and Bethel Financial Aid Application.

Your FAFSA must be received by the federal application processing center no later than 30 calendar days after the start of the term. If you miss this deadline, you must wait until the next term to receive a Minnesota State Grant.
