Bethel Scholarships
Bethel scholarships celebrate what you’ve accomplished and help ease the cost of tuition.
You’re automatically considered for most of these scholarships when you apply for aid through Bethel—with the exception of just a few that require separate applications.
Academic Scholarships
(Available for students admitted to Bethel prior to the 2012-2013 academic year. Beginning in 2012-2013, these scholarships will be replaced by the Academic and Achievement Scholarships listed in the next section.)
Amount:
- Faculty Scholarship: $2,000-$4,900 per year.
- Dean’s Scholarship: $5,000-$9,900 per year.
- President’s Scholarship: $10,000-$15,000 per year.
Renewal: Renewable each year.
Eligibility: Students have the potential to earn one of the above academic scholarships based on academic merit or potential as signified by high school GPA, class rank, test scores, and other achievements. Not need-based.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards first bachelor’s degree.
How to apply: Automatically considered in the Bethel Admissions process and must submit a Bethel Financial Aid Application annually.
Academic and Achievement Scholarships
(Available for students admitted to Bethel starting with the 2012-2013 academic year. These scholarships replace the academic scholarships listed in the previous section.)
Amount:
- Trustee Scholarship: $15,000 per year ($60,000 four-year total).
- President Scholarship: $12,000 per year ($48,000 four-year total).
- Provost Scholarship: $10,000 per year ($40,000 four-year total).
- Dean's Scholarship: $7,500 per year ($30,000 four-year total).
- Faculty Scholarship: $5,000 per year ($20,000 four-year total).
- Director Scholarship: $4,000 per year ($16,000 four-year total).
Renewal: Renewable each year.
Eligibility: Students have the potential to earn one of the above scholarships based on academic merit or potential as signified by unweighted high school GPA and ACT composite (or SAT math and verbal scored) used on admissions materials. Students can submit additional test scores up until January 15. In a limited number of cases, this may result in a larger scholarship. Not need-based.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards first bachelor’s degree.
How to apply: Automatically considered in the Bethel Admissions process and must submit a Bethel Financial Aid Application annually.
Bethel Leadership Scholarship
Amount: $1,000-$4,000 per year (new for 2012-2013)
Renewal: Renewable
Eligibility: A limited number of Bethel University Leadership Scholarships are awarded to new students who exemplify leadership, scholarship, and service in their schools, communities, and churches.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards first bachelor’s degree.
Deadline: February 1

Bethel National Merit Scholarship
Amount: $1,000-$2,000 per year.
Renewal: Renewable each year.
Eligibility: National Merit finalists who list Bethel as their first-choice school and are not awarded another form of the National Merit Scholarship. At least 3 students are awarded each year. Students must have taken PSAT during their junior year in high school. (National Merit finalists are also eligible for the $15,000 Trustee Scholarship.)
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards first bachelor’s degree.
How to apply: Separate application process. Apply through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Departmental Scholarships
Amount: Various amounts
Renewal: One-year scholarship. Students must apply every year.
Eligibility: Available to current students, who will return the next year, upon the recommendation of Bethel professors and staff. Faculty members select students in their academic major. Both need-based and merit scholarships are available.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards first bachelor’s degree.
How to apply: Separate application process available only between January 1 and February 10. Students can access the online application through Blink [Student Services tab > Financial Aid channel]. Deadline is February 10.
Girls State Scholarship
Amount: Up to $750 per year.
Renewal: Renewable for 4 years.
Eligibility: Students who plan to enroll at Bethel the fall directly following their participation in American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program hosted at Bethel. Not need-based.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards first bachelor’s degree.
How to apply: Automatically considered with your Bethel Financial Aid Application and documentation of participation.
Ministerial Scholarship
Amount: $1,000-$1,200 per year. Those serving Converge Worldwide qualify for $1,200. Other denominations qualify for $1,000.
Renewal: Renewable each year.
Eligibility: Dependent children of full-time ordained ministers or missionaries. Not need-based.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards your first bachelor’s degree.
How to apply: Automatically considered with your Bethel Financial Aid Application.
Partnership Scholarship
Amount: Up to $2,000 per year (maximum $1,000 per semester).
Renewal: Renewable for each year church participates.
Eligibility: Dollar-for-dollar match of a church scholarship. Not need-based. Student is not eligible if receiving Bethel's tuition benefit or tuition waiver.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards first bachelor’s degree.

Performance Scholarships
Amount: Various amounts
Renewal: Renewable each year.
Eligibility: Available to students participating in music, theatre, art, or forensics. Not need-based.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards first bachelor’s degree.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 per year.
Renewal: Renewable each year.
Eligibility: Transfer students with previous membership in Phi Theta Kappa for at least one term and a minimum GPA of 3.00 at their previous college. Students with Edgren Scholarships are not eligible. Not need-based.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards your first bachelor’s degree.
How to apply: Automatically considered in the Bethel Admissions process and must submit a Bethel Financial Aid Application annually.
Royal Scholarship
Amount: Up to $2,000 per year.
Renewal: Renewable each year.
Eligibility: Students with family members who previously attended Bethel. Not need-based.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards first bachelor’s degree.
How to apply: Automatically considered in the Bethel Admissions process and must submit a Bethel Financial Aid Application annually.
Travel Scholarship
Amount: Up to $1200 per year
Renewal: Renewable each year.
Eligibility: Dependent students from U.S. or Canada (excluding Minnesota and western Wisconsin). Amount varies based on location. Not need-based.
Academic requirements: Must be a full-time student in good standing and be working towards first bachelor’s degree.
