Off-Campus Programs/International Studies
There are three types of off-campus semester programs available to Bethel students: Bethel programs, affiliated programs, and programs through program providers and other colleges/universities.

Daystar Term (Fall, Spring)
Attend the
only Christian liberal arts college in Africa, situated just outside of
Nairobi, Kenya. Study a variety of subjects with 1300 students from
over 20 African countries.
England Term (Fall, odd years)
Explore literature and drama in the British Isles. Open to all majors.
Europe Term-Business (Fall, occasionally)
Study international business throughout Europe. Open to all majors.
Europe Term-Communication (Fall, odd years)
Study communication in a European setting. Open to all majors.
Guatemala Term (Spring)
Live
in Antigua, Guatemala, and participate in this program that emphasizes
an integration of academic study, Christian service, and cross-cultural
interaction. Open to all majors.
New York Center for Art and Media Studies (NYCAMS) (Fall, Spring)
NYCAMS
is located within walking distance from some of the most prestigious
galleries and museums in the world; these extraordinary cultural
resources will be an integral aspect of your learning experience. In
addition, internships with internationally renowned artists and
institutions will provide you with unique opportunities to experience
and engage professionally with the arts.
NYCAMS (Writing Emphasis) (Fall, Spring)
Open to Bethel University students with a Journalism or Literature/Writing major or Creative Writing minor, NYCAMS offers the opportunity to engage culture with faith and creativity. Living in the diversity of New York City, participants will take courses and complete an internship in the field of writing or publishing.
South Africa Term (Spring)
Study
at a spiritually nurturing and academically challenging Christian
college and gain an international focus and learn from South Africa,
one of the most significant and successful efforts in reconciliation.
Spain Term (Fall)
Immerse
yourself in the Spanish language and culture through study at the
Center for Hispanic Studies in Segovia. Live with a Spanish host family
in this wonderful town, listed as one of the United Nation's Heritage
of Humanity sites. Open to students who have completed two years of
college-level Spanish or the equivalent.
Many of our affiliated programs are sponsored by the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities. These programs will have the label "CCCU" next to them.

DOMESTIC PROGRAMS
American Studies Program (CCCU)
Explore
current national and international issues in the capitol city of Washington, DC. Attend
seminar classes which focus on domestic and international topics and
are taught by Washington professionals. A large component of this
program is an internship, which may be in any number of fields.
Examples of internships include: the office of a member of Congress;
the Sierra Club; the United Nations; and the Department of Education.
Contemporary Music Center (CCCU)
The CMC offers you the opportunity to spend a
semester studying, living in Nashville with faculty, music industry
experts and other students who share your interest in making and
marketing contemporary music. It is a chance to devote some serious
time to discovering how God would have you integrate your faith and
your love of music in the marketplace. The program isn't just for music
majors; it's for any student considering a career as a musician,
vocalist, songwriter, producer, engineer, artist manager, booking
agent, A&R director, marketing executive, music publisher, concert
promoter or entertainment industry entrepreneur.
Los Angeles Film Studies Center (CCCU)
Gain
experience in the film industry through internships in Hollywood, CA.
Attend seminar classes on film industry operations and discuss the
ethical challenges in the entertainment profession and film culture.
The Oregon Extension
Live a simple
life, with a rustic cabin as your living quarters and wood you chopped
providing heat in your own wood stove. Work to become a serious thinker
and learner. Take time to read, converse and write in the woods of
Ashland, Oregon.
Washington Journalism Center (CCCU)
Take part in this experiential semester on Capitol Hill that cultivates professional news skills while processing the implications of being a Christian working in the news media.
INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS
Australia Studies Centre (CCCU)
At the Wesley Institute in Sydney,
you will participate in an Australian Culture course and take advantage
of the course offerings in music, theatre, and graphic design.
Christianity and the Arts is a major theme of the highly acclaimed
program and school.
China Studies Program (CCCU)
Immerse
yourself in one of the world's oldest civilizations as you study
Chinese language, history, business and culture through interaction with Chinese
students & speakers.
Creation Care Study Program
Explore
critical issues of biblical stewardship while living in the rain forests
of Central America's Belize or New Zealand and Samoa. Study the
interconnected dimensions of natural ecology, consumption and other
environmental issues.
India Studies Program (CCCU)
Explore a variety of issues - poverty, social justice, rapid social change, religious pluralism - through the eyes and experience of Indian Christians. Based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, students will take electives at the Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Sciences.
Latin American Studies Program (CCCU)
Study
Spanish, community development and the role of the church in Latin
America while attending classes, working on service projects and living
with a family in Costa Rica. There are opportunities to specialize in
international business (Fall), tropical science (Spring) and literature
(Fall or Spring), and for travel to other Central American countries.
LCC International University
Spend a semester or summer experiencing Lithuania, a unique country where a walk along cobblestone streets reveals not only the history of a people once conquered and now liberated but also the spirit of a nation that is determined to maintain its identity. Learn from your peers as you live and study immersed in an Eastern European student body, and become more culturally competent through hands on experience. Discover the best of Eastern Europe as the program takes you to cities in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Russia, and take advantage of opportunities for independent travel. Middle East Studies Program (CCCU)
Spend
a semester in Cairo, Egypt, and three weeks of study and travel in other regional countries. Develop an awareness of the peoples and cultures of the Middle
East. The program explores Islamic faith and the complex issues
surrounding Christian, Jewis and Muslim relations in the region. Modern
Standard Arabic is also taught.
The Scholars' Semester in Oxford (CCCU)
Participate
in the tutorial system of learning in a partnership program with the
CCCU as a visiting student of Wycliffe Hall, part of Oxford University. This program is open to
students with a 3.5 minimum GPA.
Uganda Studies Program (CCCU)
Uganda Christian University in Kampala
provides the home for this partnership program. Students choose from
the honors classes at UCU and most complete a service project during
the semester.
Bethel does allow students to participate in certain pre-approved non-Bethel and non-affiliated programs. These program providers offer a variety of locations that serve students of many majors. For students to remain enrolled at Bethel and use financial aid, these programs are billed differently.
Please note: Pricing for all program providers will vary greatly from the cost listed on the program's website. Typically students will be billed Bethel's tuition rate in addition to the room/board rates of the program. A few programs include airfare, but most do not. You will need to carefully review your program's website to know what is included in their billing. Financial aid, including Bethel institutional aid and state/federal aid, will apply to these approved programs.
