Leadership FAQs

How do I find out if I am a leader?

Your first step is to become a member of the Foundational Leadership Program. Here, you will participate in a self-assessment, discover your strengths, and learn more about leadership topics. You could also choose the leadership minor, which digs deeper into leadership in the organizational world.

If I participate in the Foundational Leadership Program during my freshman year, what do I do until my junior year, when I am eligible for Omicron Delta Kappa? Ideally, during your sophomore year you would acquire a leadership position on campus. Positions are available in student government, campus ministries, music, athletics, and many other areas of campus life. Students may continue in leadership positions while members of O∆K.

How do I know what leadership positions are available?

Organizations from every area of campus life are available at two annual Opportunity Fairs, where you can receive information and applications for leadership positions. These Opportunity Fairs are held during Welcome Week in August and January of each year.

When do I apply for a leadership position?

Most applications are available at the end of fall semester. Applications are due mid-spring, and selections are made soon after. Training often begins in late spring so that students are prepared for positions for the upcoming fall semester.
