Identification/Access Cards

Identification cards are available in the Office of Student Life. New students will be issued new ID cards. Returning students will use their cards from the previous year. You will need an ID card to access many campus services, such as:

Athletic events
Business Office services
Campus Store
Dining Services

Libraries
Residence halls
Office of the Registrar
General identification in the community

In addition to your name, your card will have your identification number, post office box number, and bar code for the library. You will retain these numbers throughout your enrollment at Bethel.

For on-campus residents, the identification card also serves as an access control card. Each residence hall is equipped with a proximity reader, installed near the main door, which is programmed to open the door when a qualified card is presented within a few inches of the reader. Residents' individual room keys will not open exterior doors, unless otherwise notified.

You may obtain a new ID card if your card is lost, defective, or if you have a name or Bethel PO change. New cards must be activated by the Office of Security and Safety for on-campus residents and by Sodexo for those with Flex or meal plans. Report lost or stolen cards immediately to the Office of Security and Safety, and to Sodexo if you have a meal plan or Flex. The replacement charge for lost cards is $20. Defective cards will be replaced at no charge when brought to the Office of Security and Safety. If the ID card has been damaged due to improper handling, a hole being punched in the card by the user, or otherwise rendered defective by the action of the user, the charge for a new card will be $20.

Temporary identification cards will be issued at the Office of Student Life for a cost of $10, which will be credited toward the cost of a permanent card if one is needed.

ID cards are the property of Bethel University and must be presented and/or surrendered to Bethel staff or faculty upon request. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
