Student Meal Plans

Terms And Conditions: Meal Plan Contract

  1. Meal Plans
    • Fall food term: August 28 through December 18, 2008. Interim food term: January 4 through January 27, 2009. Spring food term: February 1 through May 24, 2009.
    • Meal plan contracts are effective for the entire academic year or until cancelled in person in the Office of Campus Services.
    • The Board Calendar may be reviewed in the Office of Campus Services.
    • All meal plans are based on the 2008-09 academic calendar.
    • Freshmen who have completed less than 30 credits and are living in Bethel housing are required to be on either the 20-Meal Plan or 15-Meal Plan for the year.

  2. Conditions
    • Dining Center meals are non-transferable. Your card may only be swiped one time for each meal unless you are on the Block plan.

  3. Contract Changes
    • Everyone on a meal plan is allowed one change during the first three weeks of fall or spring semester.
    • Changes are not accepted past the third Thursday of the fall or spring semesters without an approved appeal.
    • Cancellations can only be done in the Office of Campus Services.
    • Students who withdraw from school must notify the Office of Campus Services in person before leaving school to avoid further charges.

  4. Flex Policies
    • Sales to students with food plans: The Office of Campus Services sells Flex dollars at a 10 percent discount.
      • Additional Flex dollars can be purchased online at a 10 percent discount and billed to your student account. To add Flex, go to BLink (http://blink.bethel.edu), Campus Services tab, My Housing, and Meals, Dining.
      • Flex cannot be purchased without a meal plan.
    • Rollover: A maximum of 30 percent of your original Flex plan dollars carries forward automatically from fall to interim food term and from interim to spring food term. Canceling a food plan cancels any remaining balance.
      • Flex balances higher than 30 percent of the food plan will be forfeited.
      • On May 24, 2009, any remaining Flex will be forfeited.
    • Transfers: Students may transfer Flex from one student plan to another student plan. Buyer must pay the seller directly. Both parties must come to the Office of Campus Services.
    • Buyback from students: The Office of Campus Services can buy back Flex dollars at a 10 percent discount, ONLY as funds are available from sales to other students. The Office of Campus Services cannot guarantee that students wishing to sell back Flex dollars will be able to do so.
    • The Office of Campus Services will not buy back more than 40 percent of a student’s semester Flex dollars.

  5. Meal Count
    • Our meal week begins with breakfast on Friday and runs through dinner on Thursday. You can obtain your meal and Flex dollars balances at any cash register in Dining Services or stop by the Dining Services office. Every Friday morning your count starts over. Meals do not carry from week to week unless on the Block Plan.

  6. Lost or Stolen ID Cards
    • STUDENTS are responsible for Flex charges on their ID cards UNTIL they report their card as lost or stolen to Dining Services AND the Office of Student Life. A $20 fee is charged for all new ID cards.
