Campus Ministries Staff
Laurel Bunker
Dean of Campus Ministries/Campus Pastor
Laurel leads the various staff and programs of Campus Ministries. She partners with the rest of the Campus Ministries staff to develop, challenge, and prepare students for what God is calling them to do. When not speaking in chapel, Laurel works closely with the other pastors to ensure that chapel speaks to issues facing 21st century Christians and is relfective of the diverse cultures and learning styles in the Bethel community.
Leslie O'Brien
Administrative Assistant to Campus Pastor
Leslie
is the daily face of our office. She welcomes visitors with warmth and
personality. She also pulls together details and tasks to keep many of
our ministries running smoothly.
Matthew Runion
Associate Campus Pastor
Matt leads and develops cross-cultural ministries and engagements for students. This includes mission teams during interim, spring break, and summer; as well as biblical justice groups such as World Challenge and Acting on AIDS. Matt also leads the Bethel delegation to the Urbana student missions conference every three years.
Tanden Brekke
Assistant Campus Pastor
Tanden works with the Twin Cities Outreach (TCO) and Sankofa programs. These ministries give students the opportunity to experience life outside of the Bethel community while learning from the experiences of others.
Donna Johnson
Assistant Campus Pastor
Donna
leads the Pray First ministry at Bethel. Donna helps equip students to serve their peers through prayer walks, 24-hour prayer, chapel and vespers prayer, and other opportunities. Donna's desire is to see student passion for prayer would increase.
Ross Manders
Assistant Campus Pastor
Ross
seeks out whatever means possible to mentor and invite students into a dynamic life of
faith and participation in the work of Christ’s redemption—in their
lives and in the world. In addition to leading the discipleship ministries at Bethel, Ross also provides leadership to the Shift program for first year students.
Curtis Hunt
Worship Pastor
Curtis leads the UNITED Worship Ministry at Bethel, which serves all Chapel and Vespers services. As Worship Pastor, he serves as the chief architect for spiritual transformation in music ministry for communal worship experiences.
Chris LaRue
Chapel Producer
Chris inspires and designs the creative pieces of each chapel program. She pulls together elements of video, sound, drama, and design—in order to draw our community together to worship our God who is worthy to be praised.
Chris also leads the Chapel Worship Arts team which consists of theatre, Sacred Dance, and video and graphics teams. These teams provide opportunities for students to share their gifts within our chapel services and helps further prepare those who will be pursuing artistic ministry careers in the future.
Krista Engebretson
SMP Intern
Krista is in her third year in this role and works to provide mentoring, training, and development for Team Leaders in the Solidarity Missions Partnerships program. She brings many years of cross-cultural experience, including 5 years of teaching at an international school in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Krista enjoys seeing Bethel students get OUT and see what God is doing around the US and around the world.
Dannell Shu
Education Coordinator for United Worship Teams and the Dance Director for Sacred Dance
Dannell is in her first year as the education coordinator for United and the dance director for Sacred Dance. She brings her expertise as a worship leader, choreographer, communicator, and educator. She is committed to helping Christians to more fully and honestly embody their worship. For more than 15 years, Dannell's ministry has worked to raise the level of excellence of dance in the church. With a Masters in Worship Studies, Dannell is uniquely able to train dancers and worship leaders alike in the use of their physical bodies as vessels of worship through which a heart surrendered unto Christ is made visible.
Sandra Robinson Hodges
Chapel Choir Director
Sandy leads and directs the Chapel Choir out of UNITED Worship Ministry. The Chapel Choir is a premier leader for UNITED in a kingdom vision of worship, leading in genres like Black-Gospel and other World forms of worship music. Sandy has been singing since age 4, and comes to Bethel with a rich legacy of music ministry and leadership locally and nationally.
